STAY OX TOP OF EVERY LAST DETAIL

A wedding planner's job is to juggle the details of 20 weddings or classic wedding dresses more at a time, so they know a thing or two about staying organised. Learn from the experts with these tips from Tigerlily Weddings Penny Merrirks (tigerlilyweddings.co.uk)

Start a wedding diary
"Get one of those big A5 diaries with a page
per day, and ensure that you write down all
your notes and supplier contact numbers in
it and that it's the only place you're recording
things," says Penny. "Brides start to collect loads
of paper and Post-It Notes and then forget
who they spoke to when and v neck wedding dresses what's written
down where. This way, it's all in one place."

Keep it few key spreadsheets
"Make one for each of the following:
budget, suppliers you're working with, your
guest list and your checklist of tasks. To
make the checklist productive rather than
overwhelming, be realistic about how much
time you can devote to wedding planning
each week. Set specific tasks (i.e. "this week
I'll research flonsts", or "this week I'll get three
quotes" etc) and stick to them. With my
clients, we do a month-by-month list so you can see what you're achieving but you
don't see 60 items and feel like flowy wedding dresses you need to
tackle them all at once."

Print and file all emails
"It's essential to get everything in wnting,
so always have suppliers email you to confirm
pncing if you've discussed something on the
phone," Penny advises. "Keep them all in
a plastic accordion folder, with a tab for
each supplier you're working with, and
also start a subfolder in your email for
all wedding correspondence."

Don't be afraid to take a step back
"If you really feel you can't deal with
wedding dresses under 500 something, temporarily bump it from
your list and deal with something else
first. It's OK to give yourself a break if
you feel overwhelmed."
