Under the Spotlight: Petite Wedding Dresses

And now something for all you lovely petite ladies out there! If you’ve got a small build, it can be difficult finding a wedding dress that doesn’t drown you out. There are plenty of petite wedding dresses out there, but you don’t need to stick just to these. You can shop for regular wedding dresses too, just be careful to avoid a few certain things! Here are my tips for selecting some perfectly petite wedding dresses!

  • Avoid a big, full skirt as you’ll disappear into the dress
  • Steer clear of over the top designs that will overwhelm your small frame
  • A tea-length or knee-length gown can look great on a shorter bride, and prevents you from looking swamped
  • An empire waist-line dress can help even out your proportions and give the illusion of height.
  • Avoid dresses with long torsos, or you’ll look out of proportion… so no drop-waists!
  • Consider a straight sheath style, like a column dress. This style will flatter and elongate the body, not to mention looking super chic and sophisticated.
  • If you want to stick to tradition, go for an A-line or princess silhouette rather than a massive ball gown.  These won’t overwhelm your petite frame quite as much
  • When it comes to sleeves and necklines, anything goes. Choose something to suit your arms, shoulders and bust.

I hope this has helped you, and if you’re still not sure whether a dress would suit your petite frame, don’t hesitate to get in touch and I can point you in the direction of some gorgeous petite wedding dresses that will be perfectly suited to you. And whatever happens, don’t fret – there’s a wedding dress out there for every shape and size!
